This is the final class of Phase 2: Content & SEO. Students have covered 7 dense classes — content marketing, SEO fundamentals, keyword research, blog writing, on-page SEO, off-page SEO, and content calendars. Today is not a lecture. It is a working session. Students leave with a completed SEO audit they performed on a real business, plus a prioritised action plan. This is the output they will show future clients. Energy, pace, and accountability matter today. Push them to produce, not just discuss.
By the end of this workshop, every student will be able to:
Use one of these: Naheed Superstore (naheed.pk) — Karachi grocery chain with an active website. Crust Bros — Lahore pizza brand with strong social but weak SEO. LearnSmart Pakistan — O-Level tutoring, competitive keyword space. All three have real, auditable websites with findable gaps.
Each Phase 2 class taught a separate skill. But SEO is not a collection of separate skills — it is a single integrated system. When all the pieces work together, they compound. When even one piece is missing, the whole system underperforms.
Professional SEO audits are organised into five pillars. Every issue you find on a website belongs to one of these categories. Understanding the pillars helps you diagnose problems and communicate them clearly to clients.
Not all SEO issues are equally urgent. When presenting an audit to a client, organise your findings by impact and effort so they know where to start.
| Priority Level | Description | Examples | Fix Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🔴 Critical | Blocking Google from indexing or ranking the site | Noindex tag on live pages, no HTTPS, 5+ second load time, broken sitemap | Within 1 week |
| 🟠 High | Significant missed opportunities with clear fixes | Missing title tags, duplicate content, no meta descriptions, zero backlinks | Within 1 month |
| 🟡 Medium | Improvements that will compound over time | Thin content, unoptimised images, missing structured data, poor internal linking | Within 3 months |
| 🟢 Low | Nice-to-have optimisations once basics are covered | Schema markup, breadcrumbs, social meta tags, URL slugs | Ongoing |
Content marketing is the practice of creating and distributing valuable, relevant content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience. Unlike advertising, content marketing earns attention rather than buying it. The core insight: help first, sell later.
Search Engine Optimisation is the process of improving a website's visibility in organic (unpaid) search results. Google uses over 200 ranking factors, but they group into three pillars: relevance, authority, and user experience.
Keyword research is the process of discovering the exact words and phrases your target audience types into search engines. It is the bridge between what your business offers and what your customers are looking for.
Long-form content (1,500+ words) consistently outranks thin content for competitive keywords. But length without quality does not work. Great blog posts answer the search intent completely and are structured for both readers and Google.
On-page SEO refers to all the optimisations made directly on a page to help Google understand what it is about and improve its position in search results.
Off-page SEO refers to signals from outside your website that indicate your content is trustworthy and authoritative. Backlinks — links from other websites pointing to yours — are the most important off-page ranking factor.
A content calendar is a strategic schedule that plans what content will be created, when it will be published, and on which channels. It transforms content from ad hoc to systematic.
An SEO audit is one of the most valuable services a digital marketing freelancer can offer — especially in Pakistan, where most small and medium businesses have websites that have never been professionally optimised. A thorough audit typically takes 3–5 hours and can be charged at Rs. 15,000–50,000 depending on the business size and depth of analysis.
A good audit lists what is wrong. A great audit prioritises what to fix first, explains why each issue matters in business terms, and gives the client clear, actionable steps — written so that even a non-technical owner can implement or brief a developer. Always translate SEO jargon into business language: "Your site is not indexed on Google" hits harder than "your sitemap is not submitted."
Here is an example of how a content and keyword strategy comes together for a real Pakistani business type.
| Keyword | Monthly Searches | Difficulty | Intent | Content Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| O Level tuition Lahore | 2,400 | Medium | Commercial | Homepage / Landing page |
| best O Level tutors in Pakistan | 1,600 | Medium | Commercial | Comparison landing page |
| how to prepare for O Level physics | 880 | Easy | Informational | Blog post (pillar) |
| O Level past papers 2024 download | 6,600 | Hard | Informational | Resource page |
| online tutoring Pakistan home delivery | 320 | Easy | Transactional | Service landing page |
SEO is not a one-time task. Every Pakistani business that ranks well today started building months or years ago — and has not stopped. The biggest mistake freelancers make is promising quick results. Set honest expectations, show a 6-month plan, and track progress monthly. That is how you build long-term client relationships and referrals.
Choose a real Pakistani business website. Work through all five audit pillars below. Check each item as you verify it. At the end, your completion score shows you how strong or weak the site's SEO foundation is.
Click each item as you verify it. Your progress score updates in real time.
Based on your completed audit, write a prioritised action plan as if you are presenting it to the business owner. This is what a real freelance SEO report looks like.
This activity tests whether you can connect Phase 2 concepts — not just recall them in isolation.
This is your clean reference for everything covered in Phase 2 (Classes 9–15). These notes are designed to be a cheat sheet you can use when auditing a client's website or explaining SEO to someone who has never heard the term. Keep them.
| Class | Topic | Core Skill | Key Tool |
|---|---|---|---|
| Class 9 | Content Marketing | Create content that attracts, educates, and converts | BuzzSumo, Canva |
| Class 10 | SEO Fundamentals | Understand how search engines rank websites | Google Search Console |
| Class 11 | Keyword Research | Find the exact words customers type into Google | Ubersuggest, KW Planner |
| Class 12 | Blog & Long-Form Content | Write and structure content that ranks for keywords | SurferSEO, Hemingway |
| Class 13 | On-Page SEO | Optimise every element on a page for search engines | Yoast SEO, Screaming Frog |
| Class 14 | Off-Page SEO & Link Building | Build authority through backlinks and mentions | Ahrefs, Moz, Ubersuggest |
| Class 15 | Content Calendar & Planning | Plan and schedule content consistently over time | Trello, Notion, Google Sheets |
As a Phase 2 graduate, you can legitimately offer a Website SEO Audit as your first freelance service. Package it as a written report covering all 5 pillars, with prioritised recommendations and a 90-day action plan. Suggested pricing for Pakistan market:
| Service Tier | What is Included | Suggested Price (PKR) | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Audit | 5-Pillar checklist, top 5 issues, 1-page summary | Rs. 8,000–15,000 | Small local businesses |
| Standard Audit | Full audit + keyword gap analysis + 90-day priority plan | Rs. 20,000–35,000 | SMEs, e-commerce stores |
| Audit + Strategy | Standard audit + 6-month content calendar + implementation guide | Rs. 40,000–65,000 | Growth-stage businesses |
Do not claim to "get them to page 1 in 30 days." SEO takes 3–6 months to show significant results. Instead say: "I will identify every technical and content issue blocking your rankings, give you a clear plan to fix them, and show you measurable progress month by month." That promise is honest, achievable, and still compelling.
10 questions covering all of Phase 2: Classes 9–15. Content Marketing, SEO Fundamentals, Keyword Research, Blog Writing, On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO, and Content Planning. Select your answer to see the explanation.
Three deliverables are due before Phase 3 begins. Together they constitute your Phase 2 Portfolio — the foundation of your freelance SEO service offering. These are real-world outputs, not academic exercises.
Using the 5-Pillar framework from today's workshop, conduct a thorough SEO audit of a real Pakistani business website (not the same one you audited in class). Document every finding per pillar, classify each issue by priority (Critical / High / Medium / Low), and write a client-facing summary that explains the top 5 issues in plain language. Minimum 600 words. Submit as a PDF or Google Doc.
For the same business you audited, create a 3-month content calendar. Include at least 8 blog post topics — each with: target keyword, search intent type, estimated word count, and publish date. Identify which posts are pillar content and which are cluster posts. Use a Google Sheet or Notion template. The calendar must be realistic for a business with limited resources (1–2 posts per month is acceptable if justified).
Write 300–400 words answering: "What is the single most important SEO concept I learned in Phase 2 — and how would I explain it to a business owner who has never heard of SEO? Give a specific Pakistani business example." Be concrete. Generic answers receive no marks. This becomes entry #8 in your 24-week learning journal.
Phase 3 covers the full social media landscape: Instagram strategy, Facebook marketing, LinkedIn for B2B, TikTok and short-form video, community management, influencer marketing, and social media analytics. You will go from understanding platforms passively as a user to operating them strategically as a marketer. Every content skill you built in Phase 2 applies directly to Phase 3. The ability to write well, think in terms of audience intent, and plan consistently is what separates average social media managers from great ones.
Spend 20 minutes on Instagram and Facebook this week — but do not scroll passively. For every post you see from a Pakistani brand, ask: What is the objective of this post? What audience are they targeting? What action do they want me to take? What content format did they choose and why? Bring 2 observations to Class 17.
